Would...The Conditional Tense in Spanish

This tense works hand in hand with the imperfect subjunctive from last week in order to create situations that can be characterized by “if this, then that.” For example, "if I were from Mexico, I would speak Spanish." Now we look at this conditional —the “then that ” part.

For regular verbs, the future root is the same as the infinitive (i.e. hablar, tomar, vivir, etc). But as you can see below, for conditional or the “WOULD ”form, you use exactly the same root as the future, then add the conditional ending you find in the box below.
